Massage Therapy with Chiropractic

Complimentary Care for You

Massage-Therapy-with-Chiropractic-Treatment-for-Relief

Massage Therapy with Chiropractic Treatment for Relief

If you are seeking care in our Hanover office for an ailment, you may enhance your next visit by also receiving massage therapy with Chiropractic Care. To better understand the basics, chiropractic care assists your body to restore alignment of the spine and other joints. This is achieved by manipulation of the joint focusing on problems in the back, neck and extremities.  Massage therapy focuses on soft tissue work, including muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia.  This soft tissue work increases healing, range of motion and the feeling of well being.

Massage Therapy with Chiropractic Treatment

Since Chiropractic works on the joints and massage works on the soft tissue, the two modalities are complementary.  Your muscles have a memory, and after an adjustment is made, the joint seeks to retain that misalignment. By coordinating soft tissue work from a deep tissue or Swedish massage, with an adjustment, it can aid in retraining the muscles to hold the adjustment.  Massage therapy softens the muscles and attached tendons which allows the body to conform to the new alignment.  Therefore the combination of care is often times more beneficial than one service alone.

Tight Hamstrings Relief

One of the most common muscle problems patients report in our office is hamstring injuries. This is no coincidence because tight hamstrings can pull on your lower back and cause pain. They can even contribute to your knee, hip, and sciatic leg pain. Nerve irritation due to a misalignment in your lower back can also cause your hamstrings to always be tight.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy is no longer viewed as a luxury.  It is often used as a therapy to relieve chronic muscle tension as well as assist in rehabilitation from an injury. Specifically, deep tissue massage is designed to work out pain areas as well as offer relaxation.  The focus of deep tissue massage is on the underlying deeper muscles, tendons and ligaments as well as fascia (the protective layer covering muscles, joints and bones).

Deep Tissue Massage Goals

Deep tissue massages uses firm and slow pressure. It is focused work, directed at your deep layers of muscle and damaged tissue.  It works by breaking up thickened areas of your muscle fibers with the goal of helping your tissue regain proper elasticity.  For this reason, deep tissue massage can be very effective in breaking down old scar tissue and muscle adhesions.  Deep tissue massage improves your circulation bringing better oxygen flow back to your tight muscles. This helps to promote healing as well as releases your toxins that have been stored in your body.

Where do I go for Deep Tissue Massage?

I offer and perform deep tissue massage in our Hanover office.  My most utilized massage technique focuses on deep tissue work.  Most people can greatly benefit from this type of massage and really enjoy my sessions.  I also utilize hot stones into my massage sessions.  I use the hot stones as a tool to penetrate the deep muscle layers, as well as enhance circulation.  By incorporating hot stones and deep tissue massage together, the massage is more comfortable and has better outcomes for my clients.

If you would like to schedule a deep tissue massage, or have any questions, I can be reached at 781-829-9300.  I have massage hours Monday – Thursday, including Thursday evening.

Frozen Shoulder Signs

Have you heard the term frozen shoulder? You may have heard it from your doctor or a friend. It is no wonder, as shoulder injuries seem to be becoming more and more common. Shoulder conditions are probably the most common extremity injury we see in our Hanover office. One type of shoulder injury is known as a Frozen Shoulder or Adhesive Capsulitis. If you can’t lift your arm fully above your head, and have pain, then you likely have this condition and need proper treatment.

Frozen Shoulder & Scar Tissue

Frozen shoulder is when you develop scar tissue or adhesions in your shoulder joint capsule that causes pain and restricts your motion. It can come on gradually or all at once. You could develop frozen shoulder after an injury or surgery that heals wrong or after repetitive overuse. Without proper treatment it can progress to the point that you can’t use your arm at all.

Scar Tissue Relief

Do you have pain when you stretch? Do you feel restricted when you move and lack flexibility? If you answered yes, then you may have a build-up of scar tissue from an old injury. It is possible to get rid of it, but you have to get proper treatment. I have seen a lot of patients with scar tissue causing them chronic pain and stiffness in my Hanover office.

Scar Tissue, What is it?

Scar tissue is your bodies normal response to heal itself from injury or trauma. After an injury, your body tries to heal and strengthen the area by laying down new tissue called collagen. Ideally you will regain all your strength and pain-free movement when healing is complete.

You can end up with difficulty and pain if your scarring is excessive from too much inflammation or a slow recovery. This tissue can be very tough like a cheap gristly steak. Your injury may have healed knotted-up  or in a crossed pattern instead of straight. Every time you try to move this can cause you pain and pulling from the adhesions.

Scar Tissue Symptoms
